BLACK-EYED SUSAN
rudbeckia hirta

Rudbeckia.jpeg

Description

Rudbeckia or Black-Eyed Susan is one of the first dye plants we experimented with.  We grow a domesticated variety of the wild which produces large flower heads. It is drought-resistant and long-lasting both on the plant and in the vase.

Experiments

We have experimented with dying rudbeckia on linen as well as wool. It produces an earthy yellow colour with greenish hues.
